more pictures of the road trip :)

bikers getting to get their bikes off the sand.

walking to the yellow sanddunes

really uber TALL trees! and its really all nature there. even the dustbins are made from ratan.

huge lake beside the sand dunes :)

pictures of the enormous sand dune

awesome group of people. charles commented, "wah i roll down the sand dune become muah chee alr sey!" haha

brother having a hard time climbing up the sand dune cause the sand was being blown right in his face.

tired ah after all that climbing.

pretty rocky road

beautiful sea.

my biker act cool ah.

i love looking at the waves.

i love the bananas in vietnam! so much so that when they gave it some to us for free, i sneaked some back to my hotel room. heh
another interesting thing was that they have this campaign in vietnam to stop tourists from buying things from children who are selling whatever they have at tourist attractions. this is so that they do not receive revenue and parents will then start sending them to school instead of these tourist attractions. so for those of you who wish to help these children, its better to give the money to organisations who will help them receive better education.
okay, one more post and i'm done blogging about vietnam :)
back from malaysia! so the story continues.
4th day of Vietnam trip:
headed down to the sanddunes to see the sunrise as well. the sanddunes were reallu HUGEE! like the size of Singapore? haha. but it was pretty tiring walking up and down on the sand.

just thought the moon looked pretty.

climbing the sand dune. it was 5plus am ah, since we all wanted to watch the sunrise.

sunrise :)

view from atop the sanddune.

playing with the sand.

us + sand dune.

can you spot me? okay, enough with the white sand dunes(though it doesn't really look white due to the sunlight). later got the yellow one.
here are containers where they make fish sauce. the main ingredient is actually water which flows through rotten fish. a bit gross la but still harmless for consumption though.
oh and the tour guide was telling us that last time, under the more conservative communist system, people worked but did not receive money in return. instead, they received coupons which they can use to exchange for basic necessities. of course, the amount of necessities they received were never enough. now the system is kind of liberal so its somewhat like the capitalist system in terms of the pay you receive which is proportionate to your job.

vietnamese apples. it's pretty small.
oh and the tour guide told us sth abt interesting abt his parents. his father was from south vietnam and used to fight for the american army whereas his mother contributed to the guerilla warfare against the american army. so his father is pro-capitalist and tells his kids all the good stuff abt US and other European ctries. as for his mum, she tells them all the good stuff about russia and china.
oh we also walked through this stream which had really beautiful scenery around it.

where the water flows into the stream. so i suppose we were walking in the middle of a drainage basin or sth.

grass grown to feed the cows.
waterfall at the end.
the road trip in Mui Ne was awesome. we rented a motorbike and drove through the countryside.

unfortunately, our motorbike was some china brand and wasn't that good. went really slowly uphill. and the fastest my bro could go at first was 40 km/hr. no kick!
oh this is random but the cable tv there is really cheap! vietnam ppl pay only 2 sing dollar a month for like 56 channels?! good sey.
colourful boats we saw on the way.
at the fishing village. lots of boats!
schoolchildren walking home from school.
the oil hose is very long such that you don't have to park your motorbike beside the pump machine. the person holding it will go from one motorbike to the next.
oh man, i'm tired. need to sleep.
ytd's cycling with sarah, dee, syaz and syikin was fun! not forgetting hanis who was there too :)
i'm rather sad that i'm leaving for malaysia tmr because i won't be able to finish blogging about my vietnam trip.
k anyway, 2nd day started off visiting the market.
the com we used to use fb! haha, okay random ah. and yeah, that's the slippers we have to use in the hotel.

roughly how the market looks like, couldn't really take a lot of pictures cause there were people staring.
they have like so many different types of rice to choose from! but singaporeans cannot be choosy ah since we cannot even produce our own. heh
then we headed down to cu chi to look at the tunnel which the villagers built during the Vietnam War to defend themselves against the American army.
the entrance to the tunnel is super small! only slim men could go in. a lot of the Americans apparently couldn't.

trap! there were a lot of these kinda things which wore down the American army. the villagers are really smart at guerilla warfare. and the traps were made of simple bamboo pins.
shoe which the guerilla soldiers wore. it's made from rubber which was taken from tyre of the wheels the Americans used in the forest. said to be durable and can last up to 10 years.
and they have until toddler size! so cute ah.
my brother showing you anti-flammable leaves.
making rice paper
the end product :)
we entered the tunnel and it's super dark! and really small. have to either crawl or squat and walk through it. not for claustrophobic people definitely.
out of the tunnel!
hospital room
the staple food which the soldiers ate, tapioca if i'm not wrong. it tastes quite nice actually with the sugary thing. but it was insufficient to supply the guerilla soldiers with vitamins which they needed so many died of malaria and other diseases.
the best brownie ever! okayla, 2nd best. best is still the one my elder sis makes. srsly, it's hot and sweet. we ate it again before we left vietnam. haha

and it comes with a cup of chocolate creammmm!
then we left for Mui Ne the next day which was the countryside.
the packed bus :)
the rubber plantations. i like how it's arranged in straight neat rows.
dragonfruit tree.
me and my brother finally tasted our first slice of dragonfruit after much persuasion from kak hasnah.haha
the resort we stayed at in mui ne
lobby
swimming pool with jacuzzi.
that night me and my bro went to the beach, ate bbq seafood and went star gazing as well.
our super long shadows.
the seashells i collected.
brother
fishermen catching fish
their boat so cute and round!

we watched the sunset as well.

seafood bbq-ed on the spot. very cheap eh! 74000 dong($6) for both of us! and we ate until super full.
star gazing was awesome. we were very lucky that the sky was clear so it was filled with stars! really beautiful.
this is the best picture i could get but it looks way better than this la in actual fact.
stars + sound of waves crashing onto the shores = peaceful atmosphere.
the next day we went to watch sunrise at the sand dunes but i shall blog about that when i return from my malaysia trip ah.
take care you people!
